In Killing Floor 2 every player equipped with the Welder - a personal hand-held rechargeable tool that allows its user to seal up doors with its primary attack as well as to unseal them if needed with its alt-fire attack.
In hands of Support Welder turns into repairing tool allowing this perk to restore completely broken doors; one of this perk's passive abilities increases seal / unseal rate of the Welder as player levels up. Generally Welder unwelds door faster than when it seals it. When Welder is equipped, players are limited to basic Bash attacks for self defense.
Description
"You can <WELD DOORS> to slow the flow of enemies to a given area. To weld a door, walk up to it and <HOLD USE> to equip your welder."
Technical Information
Ammo Capacity = 100.
Ammo Consumption (per use) = 7.
Recharge Time (one point per every) = 0.08s.
Full Recharge Time = 8s.
Fire Rate (welding or unwelding) = 300 RPM.
(5 ticks worth of welding or unwelding per second).
Fire Rate (repairing broken doors) = 200 RPM.
(adds 7 points towards repairing meter per welding tick, door is restored when it accumulates 255 points).
Equip Time = 0.33s.
Putdown Time = 0.42s.
Player seals door at rate of +68 points of Weld Integrity per tick and un-seals it at rate of -110 points of Weld Integrity per tick. These values are boosted by Support's passive ability up to (+102 / -165). By default the door is being completely shut when it has 1500 points of Weld Integrity on its counter, however maximum Weld Integrity of each door is might be different depending on the map.
If door is under attack, per single welding tick the Welder will be restoring only 60% of the normal amount of health that it could be restoring otherwise, so in combat it takes longer to seal each door.
Support can repair doors at rate of 7 points / welding tick, at rate of 200 ticks per minute. Door will be restored upon accumulating total of 255 points.
Welder's range to "find" the door is about 1.5 meters.
Strategy
Don't forget to maintain the weld integrity - big ZEDs do a lot of the damage to doors.
Be prepared: make sure that you have "Show Welder In Inventory" option turned ON. Approaching to the door while holding the Welder would save you a second as you wouldn't need to spend the time pulling it out.
As a Support don't forget to repair destroyed doors during the Trader time. If you have a Demolitionist in the team as them to set up Door Trap - so if the door will go down it will go down LOUD!
